Lee Sung-jin, the director-writer behind the latest music video “Come Back to Me,” has shared insights into his experience collaborating with BTS leader RM.
Recently in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Sung-jin commended RM’s professionalism and adaptability, highlighting the leader’s dedication to the project despite facing a minor setback.
During the shoot for “Come Back to Me,” RM encountered an accident when his head inadvertently collided with the camera during the first take of a scene. This mishap resulted in a significant gash above his eye, momentarily causing concern for Sung-jin.
However, to Sung-jin’s relief, RM displayed remarkable composure and resilience. He promptly sought medical attention, received stitches, and returned to the set ready to continue filming on the same day.
Despite the accident, RM remained committed to the project, demonstrating his unwavering work ethic and passion for his craft. Sung-jin praised RM for his willingness to collaborate and his tireless efforts, noting that the shoot spanned over three days in Paju, located approximately an hour and a half outside of Seoul, near the North Korean border.
Sung-jin emphasized RM’s versatility and receptiveness to direction, describing him as “so versatile and open to direction.” He revealed that RM actively engaged in the creative process, offering valuable insights and feedback to enhance the production.
Even amidst the challenges posed by the accident, RM continued to push himself and the team to strive for excellence, frequently reviewing footage and suggesting improvements.
The music video for “Come Back to Me” serves as a prelude to RM’s highly anticipated second solo album, titled “Right Place, Wrong Person.” Scheduled for release on May 24 at 1 pm (KST), the album comprises 11 tracks that explore universal themes of identity, belonging, and self-discovery.
