On Tuesday, the Kremlin commented on the current situation in Ukraine, stating that President Volodymyr Zelenskyy is seeking more help from Western nations because Ukrainian forces are struggling on the frontline.
Zelenskyy’s Appeal to the West
President Zelenskyy told international media on Monday that he is urging Western countries to get more involved in the war. He wants them to help intercept Russian missiles flying over Ukraine and to allow Ukraine to use Western weapons against Russian military equipment gathering near the border.
Kremlin’s Response
When asked about Zelenskyy’s remarks, Kremlin Spokesman Dmitry Peskov said some Ukrainian officials, including Zelenskyy, have been acting hysterically in recent days. He claimed this was because Ukrainian forces are in a very tough situation at the front.
Peskov also mentioned that even if Western countries sent more military aid, it would not change the overall situation at the front. He stated that Russian forces are continuing to advance and criticized Ukraine for attacking civilian areas in Russia.
Last Friday, President Vladimir Putin said that Russian forces are making progress in Ukraine’s northeast. He explained that they are creating a buffer zone to protect Russia from attacks. Putin also criticized the West, saying they are “sick in the head” if they think they can control what Russia does.
Currently, Russian forces control 18% of Ukraine’s territory, as per the reports. This ongoing conflict has led to significant challenges and devastation for both sides involved.
