In a step to support Ukraine against Russian disinformation, the United States announced on Monday the establishment of an operation in the Polish capital. The operation aims to assist Ukraine in countering misinformation spread by Russia.
The US State Department’s Global Engagement Center, identifying disinformation from hostile states, disclosed that the US and Poland have collaborated to form a Ukraine Communications Group.
The newly formed Ukraine Communications Group will work jointly with allies to provide support against Russia’s aggression in the information space. Poland, a NATO member situated on the alliance’s eastern front, has increasingly faced sabotage and disruptive measures from Russian secret services.
Recognizing the critical role Poland plays in supporting Ukraine, the group aims to coordinate messaging, promote accurate reporting of Russia’s invasion, amplify Ukrainian voices, and expose Kremlin information manipulation.
Poland’s strategic position as a NATO member has made it a vital hub for Western assistance to Ukraine, including military aid. Since the onset of Russia’s full-scale invasion in February 2022, Poland has served as a refuge for a significant number of Ukrainians fleeing the conflict.
Amid escalating tensions, Polish officials underscore the importance of solidarity with Ukraine and the need to counter Russian disinformation efforts.

The US State Department emphasized that the Kremlin employs lies and manipulation to justify its unjustifiable invasion of Ukraine. By peddling false pretexts and obscuring its war aims, Russia seeks to fracture worldwide solidarity with the Ukrainian people. The establishment of the Ukraine Communications Group signals a concerted effort to confront Russian disinformation and support Ukraine in its struggle for sovereignty and security.
As the conflict in Ukraine continues, the formation of the Ukraine Communications Group reflects a broader effort to build a united front against Russian aggression. By bringing together allies to coordinate messaging and promote accurate reporting, the group aims to bolster Ukraine’s resilience against misinformation tactics employed by the Kremlin.
In the face of ongoing challenges, the US and Poland reaffirm their commitment to standing with Ukraine and defending the truth against propaganda and manipulation.
