Ahmed Hassan Salame Alsauarka, identified as a Hamas squad commander and sniper involved in the October 7 massacre in southern Israel, was reportedly killed in a targeted airstrike in northern Gaza. The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) confirmed the operation, stating it was based on intelligence gathered jointly with the Israel Security Agency (ISA).
As per the IDF reports, the strike, carried out by Israeli Air Force (IAF) aircraft, was precise and aimed at eliminating Alsauarka in the Beit Hanoun area of northern Gaza. Video footage shared by the IDF shows the moment of the airstrike, resulting in an explosion that targeted and killed the Hamas operative.
Alsauarka was noted as a commander in the Nukhba Forces, a faction within Hamas, known for infiltrating and conducting attacks on communities in southern Israel during the October 7 Massacre, which resulted in the deaths of 1,189 people, according to IDF sources.
The IDF emphasized that significant measures were taken to minimize civilian casualties during the operation. They reported no injuries to civilians as a result of the strike. Before targeting Alsauarka, steps were allegedly taken to ensure the operation focused solely on the Hamas operative and avoided harm to non-combatants.
Before his death, Alsauarka was reportedly responsible for directing sniper activities in the Beit Hanoun area and participating in Hamas’ attacks on IDF troops. The IDF underscored that their actions were aimed at eliminating immediate threats and dismantling terrorist infrastructure in central Gaza.
