The third INDUS-X summit is set to take place in Silicon Valley in September, according to Pentagon Press Secretary Pat Ryder. He announced during a press conference on Tuesday. This event is a collaborative effort between the US Department of Defense (DoD) and India’s Ministry of Defence, aiming to foster partnerships among defense technology companies, investors, and researchers.
Pat Ryder highlighted that last Friday marked one year since the launch of the India-US Defence Acceleration Ecosystem, known as INDUS-X. This initiative is designed to promote critical and emerging technology cooperation between the United States and India. Ryder expressed pride in the progress made this year and excitement for future developments.
The INDUS-X initiative was officially launched on June 21, 2023, during Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s state visit to Washington, DC. The goal was to create a “defense innovation bridge” as part of the Critical and Emerging Technology (iCET) initiative. This bridge aims to strengthen cooperation in defense technology between the two nations.
The first two INDUS-X summits were held in Washington, DC, and New Delhi. These events brought together key players from the private sector, including defense technology firms, investors, and researchers, to discuss and collaborate on innovation in defense.
The upcoming summit in Silicon Valley will emphasize the role of private capital in defense innovation. It will be co-hosted by the US-India Strategic Partnership Forum (USISPF) and Stanford University. The summit aims to harness the innovative spirit of Silicon Valley to advance defense technology partnerships between the US and India.

The event was coordinated by the US-India Business Council (USIBC) and the Society of Indian Defence Manufacturers (SIDM). It highlighted the importance of technological innovation in the broader context of the US-India Strategic Partnership.
The INDUS-X initiative continues to build momentum, strengthening defense technology cooperation between the United States and India.
The upcoming summit in Silicon Valley represents another significant step in this growing partnership, aiming to bring together key stakeholders to drive innovation and investment in defense technology.
