Taiwan’s Ministry of National Defence reported a significant increase in Chinese military presence near its territory. From Wednesday to Thursday morning, Taiwan detected 30 Chinese military aircraft and 8 naval vessels operating in its Air Defence Identification Zone (ADIZ). Of these, 19 aircraft crossed into Taiwan’s airspace.
In response, Taiwan deployed its aircraft, naval ships, and coastal missile systems to monitor and respond to the situation.
This incident marks the latest in a series of provocations by China, intensifying its military activities around Taiwan in recent months. Gray zone tactics, which involve actions just below the threshold of open conflict, have become more frequent. These tactics aim to exert pressure on Taiwan without direct military engagement, reflecting China’s persistent claim that Taiwan is part of its territory.
Since July began, Taiwan has recorded 65 instances of Chinese military aircraft and 20 naval ships near its territory. This latest escalation underscores the ongoing tensions across the Taiwan Strait.

Taiwan’s Coast Guard Administration has also demanded China release a Taiwanese fishing vessel and its crew, seized near Fujian Province during a fishing ban enforcement.
Taiwan has operated independently from China since 1949, following the Chinese Civil War. Despite its autonomy, China maintains a policy of reunification with Taiwan, even if it means using force. Such geopolitical tensions have drawn international concern, with neighboring countries and global powers closely monitoring developments in the region.
As the situation unfolds, Taiwan has urged for diplomatic solutions to de-escalate tensions. The international community continues to watch closely, emphasizing the need for dialogue and peaceful resolutions to avoid further escalation in one of Asia’s most volatile geopolitical hotspots.
