Kamala Harris, the Vice President of the United States, has raised a significant amount of money for her presidential campaign. Following the announcement by President Joe Biden that he would not be seeking re-election and endorsing Harris, she managed to raise $100 million. This is an improvement on her previous record-breaking fundraising efforts.
Previously, Harris had set a record for the most money raised within 24 hours, accumulating $81 million shortly after Biden and other senior Democrats endorsed her for the presidency. This latest fundraising boost gives her a temporary advantage over her Republican rival, former President Donald Trump, who had been leading in fundraising before Harris’s announcement.
Before Harris entered the race, Trump was ahead in fundraising, having raised at least $35 million more than the Biden campaign. The final fundraising numbers for July will be released at the end of the month, which will provide a clearer picture of the financial standings of both campaigns.
Harris’s Campaign and First Rally
According to her campaign, the $100 million was raised between Sunday afternoon, when Biden announced his exit from the race and endorsed Harris, and Monday evening. The money was raised by the Democratic National Committee and its fundraising committees.
Harris is scheduled to hold her first campaign rally in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. This is significant because Milwaukee was recently the site of the Republican National Convention, where Donald Trump was officially named as the GOP’s presidential candidate. Harris is expected to criticize Trump and his running mate, JD Vance, particularly on issues such as abortion.

Harris’s campaign has stated that she is “prepared to prosecute the case against Donald Trump,” drawing on her background as a public prosecutor. Milwaukee was chosen for her first rally to highlight the contrast between her and Trump.
Ahead of the Democratic National Convention in Chicago, Illinois, in August, Harris has already secured enough delegates to become the party’s candidate for president, making her the presumptive nominee. Additionally, at least 58,000 people have signed up to volunteer for her campaign, showing strong grassroots support.
This fundraising success and the upcoming campaign events position Harris as a strong contender in the upcoming presidential election.
