US President Joe Biden appreciated US Vice President Kamala Harris by saying that she is tough and capable. He talked about her capabilities to fight their Republican rival Donald Trump in the November 4 elections.
The President reposed his faith in Harris during his first address to the nation on Thursday after he quit the US presidential race and recovered from COVID-19.
Biden thanked Harris for being an incredible partner to him and a leader for the US. Biden added, ‘I want to thank our great vice-president, Kamala Harris. She’s experienced. She’s tough. She’s capable. She’s been an incredible partner to me and a leader for our country’.
In his 10 minute-long address from the Oval Office, the 82-year-old Democratic leader explained why he chose to quit the re-election bid and passed on the torch to VP Harris.
Biden said that his records merited him a second term but nothing can come in the way of saving our democracy. Biden’s told his countrymen that America is at an inflection point, saying that he has decided that the best way forward is to pass the torch to a new generation.
Biden said in his Oval Office address to the nation, ‘I’ve decided the best way forward is to pass the torch to a new generation. That’s the best way to unite our nation’.
He further added, ‘I there is a time and a place for long years of experience in public life, but there’s also a time and a place for new voices, fresh voices, yes, younger voices, and that time and place is now’.
