In Bangladesh after the resignation of former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, minority Hindus have faced daily persecution, yielding to deaths, rapes, and the destruction of Hindu homes, shops and temples.
Islamists are now harassing Hindu intellectuals and professionals and forcing them to resign from their jobs. Some are also being forced to leave Bangladesh because of their religious identity.
Many such incidents have surfaced in different districts of Bangladesh in the last few days. According to the media reports, at least 60 teachers/professors/government officials, who are Hindus, have been forced to resign so far.
The Vice President and spokesperson of ISKCON, Radharamn Das on August 20 posted on X informing how a Hindu teacher named Gautam Chandra Pal became a victim of this target by Islamists in Bangladesh.
Notably, Gautam Chandra Pal taught Chemistry at the Azimpur Government College and was awarded as the best Chemistry teacher. Gautam has now been forced to resign by the Muslim students in the college. On August 19, a Hindu lady named Sonali Rani Das was allegedly forced to resign. She was an Assistant Professor at Holi Red Crescent Nursing College in Dhaka.
According to the media reports, a Hindu from Bangladesh, wept as she narrated her tale of how her Muslim students physically locked her up and forced her to resign from her post.
“My students did this. I have taught so many students. So many still keep in touch. I can’t believe my students assaulted me. They won’t let us live”, the 55-year-old narrated as she recalled how she had to jump from her office window to escape and save her life.
The same students that she raised mistreated her, calling her names like “Kafir” and “Malaun,” she recounted. On the 18th of August, students with radical mindsets surrounded a Hindu teacher, Khuku Rani Biswas. Khuku Rani Biswas was in charge of Jessore Nursing Institute. They kept her surrounded in her office for five hours and demanded her resignation.
In the same vein, on August 18, X user @VladAdiReturns listed a few other Hindu academics and teachers from many colleges, universities, and schools who have been the victims of Islamists’ persecution in Bangladesh.
Mihir Ranjan Halder, the Vice Chancellor of the Khulna Engineering and Technology University was forced to resign on August 12. Similarly, Ratan Kumar Majumdar, the principal of the Puranbazar Degree College in Chandpur was also forced to resign, read the post. The atrocities towards Hindus in Bangladesh have been on the peak in the last few days which shows the pathetic situation of Hindus.
