While addressing an election rally in Katra, Jammu & Kashmir, Prime Minister Narendra Modi urged the people to vote for BJP to end the dynastic politics of Congress, National Congress (NC), and Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). He said, ‘This election is about shaping Jammu and Kashmir’s future’. PM Modi said, ‘BJP is committed to the multi-sectorial development of Jammu, which was ignored by Congress, NC, and PDP for years’.

He made the promise that his government’s focus would be on generating local employment, saying, ‘It’s my pledge that the new generation will not suffer under the rule of three families’. PM Modi remarked, ‘All schools and colleges in Jammu & Kashmir are now functioning normally. Youths are carrying pens, not stones. Instead of hearing news of schools being burned, we now hear about the construction of AIIMS, IITs, and other infrastructure’.

The Prime Minister indirectly criticized the National Conference, Congress, and People’s Democratic Party. He said, ‘For 35 years, Kashmir remained closed for 3,000 days, but since 2019, it hasn’t been shut down for even eight hours. Do you want to return to those days of hartals?’ PM Modi also reiterated his government’s promise to restore Jammu and Kashmir’s statehood, assuring the people that the BJP would fulfil this commitment.

Notably, the second phase of the elections is scheduled for September 25.  The remaining phases of the elections will take place on September 25 and October 1, with vote counting scheduled for October 8. PM Modi said while addressing a poll rally in Katra, ‘We will not allow Pakistan agenda to be implemented in Jammu and Kashmir. No power on earth can bring back Article 370’.

He further added, ‘They (Congress and National Conference) have said that they will reinstate Article 370, bringing back the bloodshed in the region. Though there is no excitement about Congress and National Conference in Jammu and Kashmir, our neighbours are very excited about their alliance. Pakistan’s defence minister has supported the manifesto of Congress and the National Conference. He has said that Pakistan and the Congress-National Conference alliance are on the same line regarding Article 370’.

He also accused the Congress of discriminating against Jammu & Kashmir. PM Modi further said, ‘They do not see anything except their vote bank and that’s why they only deepened the divide between Jammu and Kashmir over the years. They have always discriminated against Jammu. We have brought Jammu to the mainstream,” he said.
