On Monday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed deep concern over the humanitarian situation in Gaza as he held bilateral talks with the Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas in New York.

The Quad leaders also advocated for a two-state solution for Israel-Palestine conflict. The joint statement said, ‘We remain committed to a sovereign, viable and independent Palestinian state taking into account Israel’s legitimate security concerns as part of a two-state solution that enables both Israelis and Palestinians to live in a just, lasting, and secure peace’.
It added, ‘Any unilateral actions that undermine the prospect of a two-state solution, including Israeli expansion of settlements and violent extremism on all sides, must end. We underscore the need to prevent the conflict from escalating and spilling over in the region’.
Meanwhile, India has supported a two-state solution to the Israel-Palestine conflict. Notably, PM Modi was among the first global leaders to condemn the horrific Hamas attack on Israel on October 7, yet India has also voiced concerns about the worsening situation in Gaza.
India has provided aid to the people of Gaza. In July 2024, the country released an initial installment of $2.5 million to the United Nations Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA) for Palestinian refugees for the 2024-25 fiscal year.
