European Union Commission President Ursula von der Leyen arrived in India on Thursday for a two-day visit aimed at enhancing cooperation across AI, trade, defence, and security. Welcomed by Union Minister Anupriya Patel, von der Leyen called India a “trusted friend” and “strategic ally” on X.
This marks the first-ever high-level EU Commissioners’ visit to India. Talks with Prime Minister Narendra Modi will focus on AI collaboration, reflecting India’s growing role in global AI governance. The visit also seeks to bolster ties in digital tech, clean energy, and Indo-Pacific security.
