India and the European Union have unveiled an ambitious roadmap to deepen their strategic partnership beyond 2025, focusing on trade, technology, security, and sustainability. The announcement came during a joint press conference between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen in New Delhi.
Highlighting the long-standing India-EU partnership, PM Modi emphasized shared democratic values and mutual prosperity as key pillars. Both sides have directed their teams to finalize a Bilateral Free Trade Agreement by the end of 2025 and accelerate negotiations on investment protection and geographical indications.
Collaboration in cutting-edge technologies such as semiconductors, AI, high-performance computing, and 6G will be enhanced. A Space Dialogue will also be initiated. Additionally, India and the EU will work together on green hydrogen, offshore wind energy, EV batteries, and sustainable urban development.
Security cooperation will expand in cyber security, maritime security, and counter-terrorism. The EU’s decision to join the Indo-Pacific Oceans Initiative marks a significant step towards regional stability.
PM Modi also welcomed the EU’s new visa cascade regime, which will ease mobility for India’s skilled professionals. Both leaders expressed optimism for the next India-EU Summit, set to further solidify their growing partnership.
