In between the ongoing chaos of speculation of the BRICS nation’s intention of de-dollarisation, External Affairs Minister Dr. S Jaishankar, while addressing key global issues, dismissed India’s stance of replacing the US dollar as the world’s primary reserve currency. Along with this, he reaffirmed India’s commitment to expanding the Indian rupee in global use.
While speaking at Chatham House in London, he said, “I don’t think there’s any policy on our part to replace the dollar. As I said, at the end of the day, the dollar as the reserve currency is the source of international economic stability, and right now, what we want in the world is more economic stability, not less.”
Addressing the online speculation about the BRICS nation moving towards an alternative currency, Jaishankar said that the group of nations does not have a common decision on de-dollarisation, citing diverse opinions on the matter.
