Over two decades following Sooryavansham actress Soundarya died in a plane crash, a social activist has filed a police complaint against veteran actor Mohan Babu, according to media sources.
The complaint has been filed in Andhra Pradesh’s Khammam district demanding a thorough investigation into the accident that killed the actress and her brother Amarnath on April 17, 2004. The complainant alleges that it was not an accidental death but a murder linked to a property dispute with Mohan Babu, per media reports.
The complainant accused the 72-year-old actor that he pressurised Soundarya and her brother to sell their six acres of land in a village situated in Shamshabad. However, they refused, leading to a major conflict between the two parties.
It further alleged that after Soundarya’s death, Mohan Babu took hold of the land. The reports further mention that Soundarya was travelling with her brother to attend a political event.
She was pregnant at the time of her death. Her body couldn’t be recovered from the crash site. She was a popular Kannada actress, who made her Bollywood debut alongside Amitabh Bachchan in Sooryavansham. It was her only Hindi film where she played the role of Big B’s wife Radha Thakur.
