Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky held a conversation over the phone with US President Donald Trump, calling it ‘positive, very substantive, and frank’.
The discussion revolved around ongoing war, with Trump briefing Zelensky on his conversation with Russian President Vladimir Putin and the initiatives needed to achieve peace.
Following the call, Ukraine accepted an unconditional ceasefire proposed by the US. In a long post Zelensky shares the details of the meeting and ‘thanked’ President Donald Trump twice for the peace deal.
During the call, Zelensky emphasised the significance of working with the US to bring an end to the war. “We agreed that Ukraine and the United States should continue working together to achieve a real end to the war and lasting peace,” he said.
Zelensky also stressed that American leadership could ensure peace within the year.
