Israel’s Defence Minister Israel Katz has announced a major expansion of military operations in Gaza to strengthen Israel’s security. The move comes after Hamas failed to respect the US-backed ceasefire agreement, forcing Israel to take decisive action.
Katz stated that the military would seize large areas of Gaza and incorporate them into Israel’s security zones. The main objective is to eliminate terrorist threats and dismantle Hamas infrastructure, ensuring long-term peace in the region. He also confirmed that civilians would be evacuated from combat zones to protect them from the ongoing conflict.

Israeli forces have called on Gaza’s residents, especially in the southern Rafah area, to move northward for their safety. The minister emphasized that the war could only end if Hamas was eliminated and Israeli hostages were returned.
Earlier, a temporary ceasefire was established on January 19, during which Israel released hundreds of Palestinian prisoners in exchange for hostages. However, on March 18, Israel resumed military operations after Hamas repeatedly violated the agreement.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has stressed that military pressure is the only way to force Hamas to release the remaining hostages and ensure peace. Israel remains committed to defending its citizens and securing its borders against terrorist threats.
