In a significant move, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Monday announced the removal of Kolkata Police Commissioner Vineet Goyal from his position. This decision followed a six-hour meeting with doctors protesting the rape and death of a trainee doctor at Kolkata’s RG Kar Medical College. In addition to the police changes, Director of Medical Education Kaustav Naik and Director of Health Services Debashis Halder have also been relieved of their duties. Additionally, the deputy commissioner of Kolkata Police, against whom the victim’s family made allegations of bribery, will also be removed, CM said. .
