This Day in The History | Alam Ara was released | Ritam English
On March 14, 1931, a significant moment occurred in the history of Indian cinema. It marked the release of India's first talking film, "Alam Ara". This film, based on a love story, premiered at Mumbai's Majestic Cinema. Starring actors like Prithviraj Kapoor, Zubeida, Master Vithal, Jillo, and Sushila, it captured the audience's attention. Regrettably, "Alam Ara" is now considered a lost film as no prints of it exist today. Nevertheless, its release was met with such excitement that tickets were sold out, and police had to be called to manage the crowd outside the cinema hall.
