In a surprising move, jailed Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal has issued his second order from Enforcement Directorate’s custody, directing Delhi health minister Saurabh Bharadwaj to ensure the availability of free medicines at Mohalla Clinics. This comes amidst his arrest on charges related to the excise policy case, with the AAP leader set to remain in custody till March 28.
Addressing the press, Bharadwaj emphasized Kejriwal’s concern for the health of Delhiites despite his incarceration. He revealed Kejriwal’s directive to tackle the reported shortage of free medicines and tests in certain hospitals and clinics across the city.

This isn’t the first time Kejriwal has issued orders from jail. Just days prior, he directed water minister Atishi to address water and sewage grievances in the capital. In his signed order, Kejriwal urged cooperation from the chief secretary and the lieutenant governor, stressing the importance of resolving these issues promptly.
However, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has accused Kejriwal of playing the victim card with these directives. BJP leader Harish Khurana dismissed the orders as mere theatrics, questioning the sudden display of concern for Delhi after facing legal troubles.
Kejriwal’s arrest stems from his alleged involvement in the excise policy case, where he is accused of soliciting kickbacks from liquor traders. Despite denying the charges and accusing the BJP-led Centre of political manipulation, Kejriwal finds himself behind bars, prompting his party to abstain from Holi celebrations as a protest.
The question arises: Is Kejriwal’s governance from jail a genuine act of concern for Delhi’s welfare, or is it merely a ploy to garner sympathy amidst legal turmoil? As the AAP leader continues to operate from custody, the debate over his intentions intensifies.
