The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) has announced that Manish Chauhan will be Bharat’s next Ambassador to Jordan. Currently, Chauhan is serving as Bharat’s Ambassador to Portugal. According to the MEA press release, he is expected to take up his new assignment shortly.
The official statement from the MEA reads, “Shri Manish Chauhan (IFS: 1994), presently Ambassador of India to Portugal, has been appointed as the next Ambassador of India to the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan.”

Manish Chauhan has a distinguished career in diplomacy. He has held various significant positions in Bharatiya Missions globally, including Beijing, Tehran, and Hong Kong. These experiences have equipped him with a broad understanding of international relations and diplomacy.
Additionally, his overseas postings, Chauhan has also worked in the MEA in New Delhi in different roles. He has managed responsibilities related to neighboring nations, external publicity, the West Asia and North Africa Division, administration and personnel, the Right to Information, and multilateral work. These diverse roles have provided him with a wealth of experience in handling complex diplomatic issues.
Bharat and Jordan share a relationship characterized by warmth and mutual respect. Their first bilateral agreement for cooperation and friendly relations was signed in 1947, and the countries established full-fledged diplomatic ties in 1950.
