Pune Police are currently searching for trainee IAS officer Puja Khedkar’s family after an incident involving her mother, Manorama Khedkar, threatening farmers with a pistol. The police reached their house on Monday but found it empty, with the family seemingly on the run.

A video surfaced last week showing Manorama Khedkar threatening a group of farmers in Pune. This video, which is about a year old, led to an FIR being registered against her. The complaint was filed by one of the farmers, and the charges include various sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and the Indian Arms Act.

The video has come to light amid allegations of power misuse and abuse of the OBC quota by Puja Khedkar, who is a trainee IAS officer. These allegations have added more scrutiny to the case, drawing significant attention to the family’s actions.

The police are actively searching for Manorama and her husband, Dilip Khedkar. According to sources, their residence in Baner is locked, and their phones are switched off, making it difficult for the police to reach them. “The accused are on the run. We are trying to contact them, but they are not reachable as their phones are off. We had also tried to reach their residence, but they are not available,” sources said.

Police officials have noted that the family is not cooperating with the investigation. Multiple teams, including officers from the Local Crime Branch and the local police station, are involved in the search. These teams are looking for the family in Pune and nearby locations where they are known to have farmhouses and other residences. “If found, we will question them and take appropriate action based on their responses,” added the police sources.

On Sunday, the police issued a show cause notice to Manorama Khedkar, asking why her gun license should not be revoked. This is a part of the ongoing investigation and efforts to address the misuse of the firearm.

The police are continuing their search and plan to revisit the Khedkar residence. They hope to locate the family soon to proceed with the investigation and take the necessary legal actions.
