Lieutenant Governor of Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir Manoj Sinha today said that the security forces have devised a new strategy to deal with the emerging threats and every drop of innocent blood shed in Kashmir will be avenged.
The Lieutenant Governor was addressing the passing out parade of 629 BSF recruits at STC Humhama today. The Lieutenant Governor said that the killing of innocent labourers in the recent attack in Gagangir (Ganderbal) is condemnable.
Similarly, the sacrifice of three soldiers in the terror attack is also a matter of condemnation and concern. The Lieutenant Governor said that India always wants peace with its neighbours but unfortunately we have got a neighbour who always tries to disrupt peace despite facing extreme poverty in his country.
He said that the BSF is facing all the challenges on many fronts, be it the security of the Line of Control or the international border. He said that the force has earned fame for its patriotism and valour. The force needs to expand its scope and maintain close coordination with the central forces to deal with the challenges of terrorism.
The Lt Governor said that the central forces including police, army and BSF will have to adopt a collective approach to root out terrorism from the soil of Jammu and Kashmir. He said that BSF is one of the best central forces but it needs to go further. The Lt Governor said that BSF and forces need to upgrade technical capabilities to deal with drone challenges.
The Lt Governor said that not only weapons but also narcotics are being dropped through drones. We need to face this challenge, as narcotics are engulfing our young generation. The money earned from the sale of narcotics is being used to promote terrorism. He advised the BSF to upgrade its technology, share intelligence and increase supremacy in the region.
Appreciating the role of BSF in tackling terrorism in Punjab, the Lt Governor said that the force has great stories of valour and patriotism to its credit. The role of BSF in Kashmir is commendable. BSF is not only fighting terrorism but is also working on the civil front, which includes opening schools, helping the poor and tackling smuggling of arms and drugs. He suggested BSF to train NCC cadets in such a way that they can be inducted into BSF tomorrow. LG also wished a better future for the 629 passouts.
