Major Announcements by CM Nayab Saini in Budget: Expansion of Lado Lakshmi Scheme, 1% Vehicle Tax Rebate for Women
Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini has made several important announcements in the 2026–27 budget with a focus on women’s empowerment. The Chief Minister approved the expansion of the Deen Dayal Lado Lakshmi Scheme and announced an increase in its scope and budget.
The scheme was launched on September 25, 2025, under which eligible women receive financial assistance of ₹2,100 per month. So far, more than 10 lakh women in the state have applied for the scheme, while around 8 lakh women are currently receiving its benefits.
The first installment for eligible women was released on November 1 (Haryana Day), while the second installment was given in the first week of December. The Chief Minister said that now three months’ installments will be released together to provide greater convenience to beneficiaries.
A provision of ₹6,500 crore has been made for the scheme in the 2026–27 budget, significantly higher than ₹5,000 crore in the previous financial year.
The annual income limit has also been revised. Earlier the income limit was ₹1 lakh per year, which has now been increased to ₹1.80 lakh, enabling more women to benefit from the scheme.
Relief in Vehicle Registration for Women
To promote women’s self-reliance, the government has also provided relief in vehicle registration. A 1% rebate in motor vehicle tax will be given on non-transport vehicles (cars, bikes, etc.) registered in the name of women.
At the same time, to promote electric vehicles, the existing 20% rebate on two-wheelers, four-wheelers and e-rickshaws will be further increased. This step will encourage environmental protection and clean transport.
Increase in Dedicated Buses for Women
The government also announced an increase in the number of dedicated buses for women passengers and female students in the transport sector. Currently, 273 buses are in operation, which will be increased to 500. This is expected to improve safety and convenience for women.
The budget of the Women and Child Development Department has also been significantly increased. It has been raised by 14.91% from the revised estimate of ₹1,969.65 crore in 2025–26 to ₹2,263.29 crore in 2026–27.
The Nayab Saini government’s budget is aimed at strengthening women’s economic independence, safety and convenience. Announcements such as the expansion of the Lado Lakshmi Scheme and vehicle tax rebate are expected to benefit lakhs of women in the state.
