CM Nayab Singh Saini has laid out a clear directive to ensure that every grain brought by farmers is purchased at Minimum Support Price while maintaining a smooth and transparent system across mandis. Chairing a high level meeting with Deputy Commissioners on March 28, 2026, the Chief Minister emphasized accountability, infrastructure readiness, and timely payments, signaling a governance approach that places farmer confidence at the center of procurement operations.

During the meeting, CM Saini instructed officials that there should be zero deviation from MSP norms and warned against any irregularities in the procurement of wheat and mustard. He made it clear that any negligence or malpractice at the mandi level would invite strict action. The focus remained on building a system where farmers can sell their produce without facing delays, confusion, or exploitation.

To improve the on ground experience, the Chief Minister directed Deputy Commissioners to ensure the availability of essential facilities in all mandis. These include adequate bardana, clean drinking water, proper seating arrangements, hygienic toilets, and canteen services. The aim is to make mandis more farmer friendly, especially during peak procurement days when large numbers of farmers arrive with their produce.

CM Saini also stressed the importance of monitoring and quick grievance redressal. He instructed that nodal officers be appointed at each mandi to oversee procurement activities and resolve issues in real time. In addition, he directed that payments for procured crops must be transferred directly to farmers’ bank accounts without delay, reinforcing transparency through direct benefit transfer mechanisms.

Administrative oversight has also been strengthened, with instructions for regular field visits by Deputy Commissioners and continuous review meetings at the local level. This ensures that even minor issues are addressed promptly and the procurement process remains efficient.

For the current season, the state has designated 416 mandis for wheat procurement, 112 for mustard, 25 for barley, 11 for gram, and 7 for lentils. The government has also made it mandatory to display registration numbers on crop loaded vehicles, while gate passes will be issued through the e procurement app to streamline operations.

The initiative reflects the Nayab Singh Saini government’s effort to combine policy clarity with execution efficiency, ensuring that farmers receive fair prices and a hassle free procurement experience.
