Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini took a decisive step toward gaushala self-reliance by releasing a ₹68.34 crore fodder grant for 602 registered shelters across the state. This comes as cattle numbers have increased significantly from 1.75 lakh in 215 gaushalas in 2014 to nearly 4 lakh stray cattle in 697 today. The increase reflects sustained government efforts over the past 11 years.

At the state-level distribution ceremony held at Dharmarth Gaushala in Sonipat's Bhatgaon village, CM Saini emphasised cow protection as a cornerstone of Indian culture, faith, and social responsibility.

"Our commitment remains unwavering," he said, highlighting over ₹525.75 crore in total assistance provided to gaushalas. Sonipat district alone benefited with ₹5.60 crore for its 27 shelters.

According to the Chief Minister, sustainability drives the agenda forward. Solar plants now power 330 gaushalas, with full coverage planned by 2026–27. Electricity is supplied at a nominal ₹2 per unit, slashing costs and enabling smoother operations.

Comprehensive support to these facilities include on-site veterinary doctors, mobile clinics, and two dedicated cow sanctuaries. CM Saini also spotlighted economic potential, urging promotion of cow dung and urine-based products to bolster rural economies and empower farmers.

He called on citizens, panchayats, and youth to join hands in this vital cause. CM Nayab Singh Saini said the government has implemented the Haryana Gauvansh Protection and Gausamvardhan Act, 2015 to ensure the protection of cattle.

Local leaders and gaushala workers attended the event, expressing gratitude for the timely aid that will nourish thousands of animals.

These initiatives blend tradition with modernity, uniting Haryana in cow welfare while delivering real gains for rural communities in the form of more shelters, healthier cattle, greener energy, and economic uplift.
