Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan launched a strong attack on Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi regarding the ongoing NEET-UG controversy. Pradhan accused Gandhi of understanding the “fundamentals and maths of unfair practices too well” and criticized the previous Congress-led UPA government for not enacting laws to stop malpractices in educational institutions.
In a post on X, Pradhan said that the UPA government, during its tenure, failed to implement laws to prevent malpractices in competitive exams. He specifically mentioned the Prohibition of Unfair Practices Bill of 2010, which the Congress government did not enact. Pradhan suggested that Rahul Gandhi and his allies were shedding “crocodile tears” over the issue, implying their concerns were insincere.

Pradhan also challenged Rahul Gandhi to explain why the Congress government refused to implement these laws. He accused Gandhi of failing to address the root causes of the problem and merely blaming others.
Earlier in the day, Rahul Gandhi led the Opposition’s criticism of the government in Parliament. He argued that the examination system in India was facing serious issues, with widespread concerns among students about its integrity. Gandhi accused Pradhan of blaming everyone except himself and questioned the systemic measures being taken to address these problems.
Gandhi highlighted that the Indian examination system could be manipulated by the wealthy, further exacerbating inequalities. He demanded concrete actions to fix these systemic issues, expressing skepticism about the government’s efforts.
In response, Pradhan expressed disappointment over Gandhi’s remarks, calling it unfortunate to describe the examination system as rubbish. He asserted that there had been no evidence of paper leaks in the last seven years and defended the government’s transparency and accountability.
Pradhan emphasized that he operated under the guidance of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and that the government was collectively responsible for the education system. He assured that everything was on record, and there was nothing to hide.
