All India Muslim Jamaat Chief Backs Waqf Bill, Calls It A Step To Protect Muslim Rights

- Maulana Shahabuddin Razvi supports Waqf Bill, saying it protects Muslim properties and targets waqf land misuse.
- Some leaders, like Maulana Sufiyan Nizami, oppose the bill, claiming it weakens Muslim rights and was passed without proper consultation.
- The Waqf Bill aims to improve property management, increase transparency, and use technology for better administration.
Maulana Shahabuddin Razvi Barelvi, the National President of the All India Muslim Jamaat, has supported the Waqf (Amendment) Bill and assured the Muslim community that it does not threaten the properties of mosques, dargahs, Eidgahs, or cemeteries. He explained that the bill is meant to give rights, not take them away, and is aimed at tackling the “waqf land mafia” who have misused waqf properties.
Razvi urged Muslims not to protest against the bill and said the amendment is for their benefit. He also warned against political misinformation and encouraged people not to be influenced by rumors.
However, some Muslim leaders, like Maulana Sufiyan Nizami, have expressed concerns. They believe that the bill weakens the rights of Muslims and was passed without enough consultation with Muslim organizations. They argue that the bill harms the management of waqf properties and is pushed for political reasons.
The Waqf (Amendment) Bill, 2025, passed by both Houses of Parliament, aims to improve the management of waqf properties, increase transparency, and use technology for better administration. Some leaders see it as a step toward reform, while others are concerned it reduces the autonomy of waqf institutions.
