Ladakh DGP SD Singh Jamwal on Saturday defended the arrest of climate activist Sonam Wangchuk, saying his protest stage created space for violence. Jamwal revealed investigators were examining Wangchuk’s alleged Pakistan links, citing his previous cross-border visits and interactions with officials in Islamabad.
The DGP disclosed that a Pakistani Person of Indian Origin (PIO) had been arrested recently for maintaining contact with Wangchuk and relaying reports abroad. “We also arrested a Pakistan PIO in the recent past who was in touch with Sonam Wangchuk and reporting back across. We have a record of this,” Jamwal said. He added that the individual had attended a Dawn event in Pakistan and also visited Bangladesh.
Jamwal further revealed Wangchuk had a “history of provocation” by invoking movements like the Arab Spring, Nepal and Bangladesh. He confirmed that probes were underway into Wangchuk’s funding sources, including possible violations of India’s FCRA regulations

“Yunus is Pakistani, Go back to Pakistan”: Bangladesh’s Interim Head Mohammad Yunus Faces Protest ahead of UNGA address
Members of the Bangladeshi diaspora protested outside the United Nations headquarters in New York against Muhammad Yunus, the interim Chief Adviser of Bangladesh.
Protesters accused Yunus of overseeing a rise in atrocities against minorities since taking power following Sheikh Hasina’s ouster in August 2024.
They chanted, “Yunus is Pakistani. Go back to Pakistan,” reflecting the strong anger of Hasina’s supporters living abroad.
Protesters highlighted increasing violence against Hindus, Buddhists and Christians, forcing millions to flee Bangladesh since August 5, 2024.
Protesters demanded that Yunus step down and called for fresh elections, adding that the current regime is illegal and extremist.
Yunus was accused of turning Bangladesh into a “Taliban country” and unlawfully imprisoning minority religious leaders like Chinmoy Krishna Das.
They further stated that Islamist forces and terrorist groups are colluding with Yunus following the “illegal ouster” of Sheikh Hasina’s secular government.
Ujjain: Fardeen Khan attempts to Rape Hindu Woman, Gets Thrashed by Locals; Arrested
In Ujjain, a young woman heading to play Garba was deceived by her social media friend, Fardeen Khan, who called her for an important discussion.
Fardeen led her to a garage near New Ujjain Motors and attempted to rape her; her screams alerted nearby people.
Local residents caught Fardeen, severely thrashed him before handing him over to the Neelganga police.
An FIR was filed based on the victim’s statement, with prompt community action ensuring the accused could not escape or cause further harm.
Pakistan’s Defence Minister Khawaja Asif ties himself in knots for claiming India operates Imran Khan’s X handle
Pakistan’s Defence Minister Khawaja Asif found himself in a major contradiction over claims about former Prime Minister Imran Khan’s X (Twitter) account. In a recent interview, Asif first alleged that Khan was operating his account from inside Adiala Jail, where he has been imprisoned since August 2023. But when pressed, he also claimed India controls the account—statements that directly contradicted each other.
Facing tough questions from journalist Mehdi Hasan, Asif appeared flustered and admitted that the account is either operated by Khan from jail or controlled by someone else but refused to name who. Despite citing “intelligence sources” as his evidence, he declined to provide any verifiable proof publicly.
UP ATS Arrest Talib Ansari, Salman Ansari in Fake Aadhar Card Case
Uttar Pradesh ATS arrests Talib Ansari (Saharanpur) and Salman Ansari (Ghaziabad) in a fake Aadhaar card case; both placed in seven-day custody.
Forged documents were used to create fake Aadhaar cards for Bangladeshis, Pakistanis, Nepalis, and Rohingyas.
The syndicate operated through service centres across UP, West Bengal, Delhi-NCR, and Bihar districts.
Earlier in August, 10 others were arrested in connection with the case; Talib and Salman were apprehended later.
Fraudulent Aadhaar cards were also used to obtain passports.
ATS will interrogate the accused using data recovered from their laptops and mobile phones; their bank transactions are under investigation.
Maulvi Arrested for Detaining Minor Hindu Girl, Attempting Forced Conversion in Haryana Village
In a village of Palwal district, Haryana, a Maulvi has been arrested for forcibly detaining a minor Hindu girl in a mosque and attempting to convert her forcibly to another religion.
A case has been registered against the Maulvi and seven others, including two women.
A Muslim boy had lured the Hindu girl and taken her to the mosque.
A few hours later, the girl’s father saw his daughter’s slipper outside the mosque and entered inside, where he found her held hostage with several people present.
The father alleged that his daughter’s Kalava (sacred thread) and Rakhi were forcibly removed, and the tilak (forehead mark) was erased from her forehead.
The Maulvi and others were reportedly pressuring the minor through religious books.The girl’s father managed to rescue her and informed the police.
According to DCP Narender Khatana, the Maulvi has been arrested, and the search for the other accused is ongoing.
The incident has created communal tension in the village, and police forces have been deployed outside the mosque and in sensitive areas.
The girl’s father stated that his daughter has been regularly performing Yagyas and Pujas for the past ten years, which he believes is why she was targeted.
Sumaiya Rana, Daughter of Late Poet Munawwar Rana, Posts Provocative Video Amid ‘I Love Muhammad’ Poster Controversy; Challenges UP Police
Amid several incidents of communal disharmony in various cities across Northern states of India, Sumaiya Rana, the daughter of Late Poet Munawwar Rana has released a provocative video in reference to the ‘I Love Muhammad’ Poster controversy.
Accusing the Police of committing brutality and baton-charging protesters part of the ‘I Love Muhammad’ rally, Sumaiya said, “Police, be prepared — in Lucknow, it won’t just be a crowd, it will be a Sailab (deluge that destroys everything).”
Alleging curtailment of Fundamental rights, Sumaiya went further accusing the Police of not letting them praise Prophet Muhammad. Issuing an open challenge to the UP Police, she added, “Let the police keep their guns ready, we are ready to take the bullets with a smile. But we will never accept a ban on saying ‘I Love Muhammad’.”
In connection with the violence that occurred in Bareilly on September 26, the police have arrested Maulana Tauqeer Raza, the head of Ittehad-e-Millat Council (IMC)
A total of eight people, including Maulana Tauqeer Raza, have been sent to jail, and 10 FIRs have been registered, including cases against 2,000 unidentified stone-pelters.
Police have taken 31 individuals into custody and are currently questioning them.
Weapons and objects such as guns, cartridges, petrol bottles, stones, knives, sticks, and blades were recovered from the site of the unrest.
21 police personnel were injured in the violence.
District Magistrate Avinash Singh stated that Maulana had been informed in advance about the denial of permission for the protest and that Section 163 was in force.
During a meeting, Nafees and Nadeem submitted a letter requesting not to proceed with the program, but later they distanced from it.
Senior Superintendent of Police Anurag Arya said that several miscreants had come from outside the district; around 2,000 to 3,000 people gathered in groups each ranging from 100 to 300.
One of the main accused named Nadeem is still absconding. He was in contact with people through phone calls and WhatsApp.
WhatsApp groups were created to gather people for the protest.
Traders have demanded strict action against Maulana Tauqeer Raza and his imprisonment, citing his role in the 2010 riots as well.
Security forces are currently deployed in the city, and the situation is under control.
Security Forces Demolish Naxalite Weapons Factory in Sukma, Chhattisgarh
In Sukma district of Chhattisgarh, security forces demolished a weapons manufacturing factory operated by Naxalites in the Mettaguda camp area.
This joint anti-Naxal operation was conducted on September 26 by the Sukma district force and the 203 Cobra unit.
The factory was located during an intensive search in the dense forests and hilly areas of the villages Koimenta and Erapalli.
From the Naxalites’ factory, a vertical milling machine, three bench vices, one hand grinder machine, and four solar batteries were recovered.
Two large BGL launchers, 94 BGL heads, 12 empty BGL shells, six wooden rifle stocks, and three directional IED pipes were seized.
Moulding pots used for weapon manufacturing, 80 pieces of steel pipe, iron scraps, and other tools were also recovered.
NCERT to Ensure Uniform Recognition of School Board Certificates Across India
The central government has assigned NCERT the responsibility of granting equivalence to 10th and 12th certificates issued by all state boards.
Certificates from all boards will be equally recognized for admissions to higher education institutions and government jobs.
The task of equivalence determination will be carried out by PARAKH (National Assessment Centre), established under NCERT as per the New Education Policy 2020.
Earlier, this responsibility was given to AIU (Association of Indian Universities), which has now been revoked by the new notification.
The new system will apply to all legally recognized central, state, and private school boards.
The equivalence granted by NCERT will be accepted throughout India, making it easier for students to transfer (migrate) between different boards.
This notification was published by the Ministry of Education on September 6, 2025.
