Only Way is Resilience, Not Courts”: Bollywood Actor Prakash Raj Defends Illegal Immigration, Stirs Fresh Controversy
Controversy’s favourite child, Bollywood actor Prakash Raj, has courted another controversy after publicly defending illegal immigration. This follows remarks he made at an event titled Longing for Justice: Continuous Denial of Bail & Caging Dissent.
The event was attended by several advocates and retired justices who have consistently opposed the Modi government on key governance issues. The participants included Justice Madan Lokur, Justice Iqbal Ansari, Adv. Colin Gonsalves, Kannan Gopinathan, Adv. Nitya Ramakrishnan, Bollywood actor Prakash Raj, Adv. Prashant Bhushan, Adv. Sanjay Hegde, Adv. Warisha Farasat, with Adv. Shahrukh Alam moderating the event, which took place on 24th September at Jawahar Bhawan, New Delhi, from 5 PM onwards.
Sharing details of the event and its poster, Prakash Raj said, “Every VOICE of RESILIENCE matters.”
A video clip of Prakash Raj has since gone viral on social media, in which he can be heard brazenly defending illegal immigration and provoking the public against legal recourse and approaching the courts for grievances.
Defending illegal immigrants, Raj said, “You all should understand that this right-wing government and right-wing governments around the world want us to watch a genocide; they want to make it the new normal. The Indian right-wing is waiting for Israel to complete their genocide so they can do the same. If we don’t stand up and say no human is illegal on this earth, if we don’t stand up and say that travelling from one place to another is a basic human right, that this world belongs to everyone, then these genocides will continue. The only way is resilience, not the courts, and I have hope in that.”

“Don’t Want To Punish India”: US President Trump’s Aide Chris Wright
Following the usual practice of issuing anti-India remarks with a sugar coating, US Energy Secretary Chris Wright, a close aide to President Trump, expressed strong admiration for India, calling it an “awesome ally” and a “huge fan” of the country. He then went on to pontificate that the United States “does not want to punish India” despite concerns over its continued purchase of discounted Russian oil. Washington has repeatedly alleged that India’s oil imports from Russia help fund the latter’s war in Ukraine. He lectured India to reconsider its reliance on Russian oil, arguing that India has alternatives. According to the Trump aide, India can buy oil from any nation except Russia, adding that the US is keen to expand energy trade and cooperation.
Wright also stated that President Trump’s foremost goal is world peace and ending the Ukraine conflict, hoping that stronger US-India relations will contribute to this effort.

If Conversion Found To Be Illegal, Marriage Will Automatically Be Invalid: Allahabad HC Dismisses Mohammed Bin Quasim’s Plea
The Allahabad High Court on 24th September declared an interfaith marriage illegal after it was revealed that the Hindu wife’s conversion to Islam was based on a fake certificate. The court dismissed a plea by Mohammed Bin Quasim (alias Akbar) and his wife Chandra Kanta (Zainab Parveen post conversion to Islam) seeking police protection, citing threats from the girl’s family.
The Hindu girl named Chandra Kanta had allegedly converted to Islam at Khankah Alia Arifia (an Islamic religious place) in Kaushambi in February, and the couple married according to Islamic rituals in May. However, during proceedings, the religious institution confirmed it had not issued any conversion certificate. The court ruled that since the certificate was fake, the marriage was invalid under Muslim law, which permits ‘nikah’ only between Muslims.
Additionally, the court fined the couple’s lawyer Rs 25,000 for submitting unverified documents and directed that Chandra Kanta be placed in a women’s shelter in Prayagraj as she refused to return to her parents and consented to live there.

Air Force Could Have Slowed Chinese Offensive in 1962 War: CDS Criticizes Nehru Govt’s Uniform Policy on NEFA and Ladakh
Chief of Defence Staff General Anil Chauhan recently stated that deploying the Indian Air Force (IAF) during the 1962 Sino-Indian War could have significantly slowed the Chinese offensive. He also criticized the then Nehru government for applying the same policy to both the North-East Frontier Agency (NEFA) and Ladakh, calling it “flawed.” He argued that while the use of the Air Force might have been considered “escalatory” at that time, it is no longer viewed that way today. He pointed to Operation Sindoor as a prime example of this shift.
Slamming the Nehru government’s approach to NEFA and Ladakh, CDS Chauhan stressed, “All I can say is that the forward policy should not have been applied uniformly to Ladakh and NEFA. The two regions had very different histories of the dispute, distinct security contexts, and entirely different terrains. In Ladakh, China had already occupied much of Indian territory, whereas in NEFA, the legitimacy of India’s claim was stronger. To equate the two and pursue identical policies was, in my view, a significant flaw.”
Flagging the Nehru government’s imposed restrictions, CDS noted that Lt Gen Thorat had considered using the IAF, but the then-government did not allow such a move.
On the potential use of the Air Force, he added, “It would have provided a significant advantage during the 1962 conflict. With shorter turnaround times, favorable geography, and the ability to deliver maximum payloads with significant weight on the enemy, the use of air power could have considerably slowed the Chinese offensive, if not completely stymied it. This would have given the Army much more time to prepare. At that time, the use of the Air Force was considered escalatory, but this is no longer the case. Operation Sindoor is a perfect example of this.”
Highlighting Lt Gen Thorat’s warnings before the 1962 war, CDS Chauhan commended Thorat’s autobiography, “Reveille to Retreat,” for providing profound insights into leadership and military strategy.

Main Conspirator of Uttarakhand Paper Leak, Khalid Malik, Arrested; Leftist Slogans Like ‘JNU’ Heard in Dehradun Protest
In the Uttarakhand Subordinate Service Selection Commission (UKSSSC) paper leak case, police have arrested the main conspirator, Khalid Malik. He is accused of leaking the exam paper from a room at the Bahadurpur Jatt examination center using a device, despite the presence of a jammer. His sisters and a professor are already in police custody in connection with the case. Meanwhile, Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami described this incident as “cheating jihad” and assured strict action. Police said the investigation is still underway, and more arrests could follow in this racket.
On the other hand, several protests are being held across the country against paper leaks. One such protest in Dehradun is drawing attention on social media for allegedly provocative slogans. In a viral video, some protesters can be heard raising leftist slogans similar to those heard earlier in JNU. These include chants like “We will snatch freedom, we will take freedom from the streets,” which had first gained notoriety in the JNU campus a few years ago.
