“Fixed Match on Babri”: BJP Accuses Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee of Secret Deal With “Suspended” TMC MLA Humayun Kabir

West Bengal’s communally sensitive Beldanga is on edge, with videos showing large groups of Islamist supporters of suspended TMC MLA Humayun Kabir openly mobilising in the area. While the TMC leadership has publicly distanced itself from Kabir’s provocative plan to build a “Babri Masjid” on 6 December, the BJP has alleged that Chief Minister and Home Minister Mamata Banerjee is in tacit collusion with him to polarise Muslim voters.

The BJP maintains that it is not opposed to the construction of a mosque, but strongly objects to naming it “Babri”—a name tied to the disputed structure demolished by kar sevaks on 6 December 1992, built atop the birthplace of Lord Ram.

BJP spokesperson Pradeep Bhandari hit out at the Chief Minister, saying, “This is a fixed match in Bengal on ‘Babri’ between Humayun Kabir and Mamata Banerjee. Make no mistake—Mamata is the Home Minister. She can take Humayun Kabir into preventive custody. Bengal is fed up with TMC’s anti-Hindu, anti-Bengal, pro–vote bank politics.”

BJP Social media chief Amit Malviya also accused Mamata Banerjee of using the ‘suspended’ MLA to stoke Muslim sentiments for electoral gain. Citing local accounts, he said Kabir’s supporters were openly carrying bricks to begin constructing a so-called “Babri Masjid”, with police protection.

Malviya further warned that the project is “not a religious initiative but a political gambit intended to inflame emotions and consolidate vote banks,” adding that such actions threaten Bengal’s social stability and risk deepening communal fault lines.

Allahabad HC Refuses Anticipatory Bail to Folk Singer Neha Rathore Over Controversial Post on Pahalgam Terror Attack

The Allahabad High Court (Lucknow Bench) has rejected the anticipatory bail plea of folk singer Neha Singh Rathore, who is accused of posting objectionable comments on X after the Pahalgam terror attack. The Court said her posts were directed against the Prime Minister in a disrespectful tone and were shared at a highly sensitive moment following the April 22, 2025 incident.

Although the Constitution protects freedom of expression, the Court noted that such rights come with reasonable limits linked to public order and national security. The FIR alleges she posted anti-India statements after terrorists killed 26 tourists in Pahalgam. While her lawyer argued that her posts were only dissent, the prosecution said her remarks could disturb national unity.

The Court also stated that she had not cooperated with investigators and that, due to earlier Supreme Court directions, it could not examine the charges at this stage. Her request for anticipatory bail was therefore dismissed.

DMK Government Accused of Violating Hindu Religious Rights and Defying Court Orders in Tamil Nadu

The Tamil Nadu government under Chief Minister M.K. Stalin has been accused of systematically undermining Hindu religious freedoms, drawing comparisons to the oppressive policies of Aurangzeb. At Thiruparankundram Arulmigu Subramaniya Swamy Temple, the Madurai Bench of the High Court twice ordered the lighting of the historic Karthigai Deepam. The HR&CE Department and temple authorities, acting under Stalin, ignored these directives, filed appeals against the court order, and faced a Division Bench’s rejection, which mandated CISF protection. Subsequently, police reportedly blocked the hill, assaulted devotees, disrupted the court-mandated ritual, and arrested BJP leaders Nainar Nagendran and H. Raja for enforcing judicial orders.

This pattern extends across the state: seizure of Chidambaram Nataraja Temple, banning Ram Mandir celebrations in over 38,000 temples, attempted takeover of Sri Kalikambal Temple, and irregular transfers of Suriyanar Koil Adheenam. Critics says these actions weaponize state machinery, violate constitutional religious freedoms, and constitute institutional persecution of the Hindu majority.

Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju strongly objected to Baalu’s remarks. He questioned, “How dare you defame the judiciary?” The Union Minister also stated that unparliamentary language cannot be used inside the House. Meanwhile, the presiding officer in the Lok Sabha, Krishna Prasad Teneeti, said that Baalu’s statement would be removed from the official records.

IndiGo Flight Operations Slowly Stabilise as Passenger Woes Reach Supreme Court

IndiGo’s nationwide flight disruptions entered the fifth consecutive day, causing widespread inconvenience with over 1,000 cancellations on Friday and more than 550 on Thursday. Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport issued an advisory confirming that IndiGo flights are steadily returning to normal and passengers were urged to recheck their flight status before travelling. The crisis escalated further as a petition was filed in the Supreme Court, seeking the Chief Justice’s intervention and calling for reports from the Civil Aviation Ministry and DGCA on the massive passenger losses.

The DGCA blamed the situation on IndiGo’s misjudgment in planning while implementing new pilot duty regulations. IndiGo CEO Peter Elbers apologised publicly and said full normalcy is expected between December 10 and 15. Meanwhile, Civil Aviation Minister Ram Mohan Naidu announced strict action, attributing the chaos to poor crew management. Despite gradual improvement in Delhi, multiple cancellations continued across major airports nationwide.
