ED Files Money Laundering Charges Against Robert Vadra Over UK-Based Fugitive Sanjay Bhandari’s Defence Deal Scam

The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has filed a prosecution complaint against Robert Vadra, husband of Priyanka Gandhi, in a money laundering case linked to UK-based fugitive defence dealer Sanjay Bhandari. The complaint, submitted to a special court at Delhi’s Rouse Avenue, follows Vadra’s PMLA statement in July 2025, during which he allegedly avoided answering questions about his financial ties with Bhandari and his family.

The investigation centers on Bhandari, wanted in India for money laundering and tax evasion involving defence deals, who fled in 2016 and is contesting extradition from the UK. Congress Presents Indira Gandhi Peace Prize 2024 to Michelle Bachelet, Former UN Rights Chief Criticized for Anti-India Stance

Former UN Human Rights Chief Michelle Bachelet, who also served as Chile’s first female president, received the Indira Gandhi Prize for Peace, Disarmament and Development 2024 from Congress Parliamentary Party Chairperson Sonia Gandhi on November 19. Bachelet’s tenure at the UN was marked by repeated criticism of India, particularly on Kashmir, the NRC in Assam, and the Citizenship Amendment Act, often portraying India in a negative light.

Sonia Gandhi praised Bachelet, drawing parallels with Indira Gandhi’s early struggles, despite the controversy surrounding her interventions in India’s internal affairs. The award ceremony was attended by 1984 anti-Sikh riots accused Jagdish Tytler. The BJP condemned the decision, highlighting Bachelet’s history of supporting narratives used by separatists and Pakistan, and interfering in India’s sovereignty under the pretext of human rights.

Bachelet has consistently focused on minority issues in India while remaining silent on similar or worse human rights violations in neighboring countries. Critics argue that Congress, historically sympathetic to critics of India, has once again endorsed a figure with a documented bias against the nation.
